ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS (ABOUT THREE WEEKS APART AND NO MORE THAN 500 MILES) THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT STOPPING THE VEHICLE. BOTH TIMES THE CONDITIONS WERE DRY AND DEBRIS FREE. THE FIRST OCCASION OCCURRED GOING UP A HILL TO A STOP SIGN AND WAS NOT AS NOTICEABLE. I BACKED MY 2010 HONDA RIDGELINE OUT OF MY GARAGE. IT WAS A LITTLE TOO CLOSE TO MY BASKETBALL HOOP SO I PUT IT IN DRIVE TO PULL FORWARD. THE TRUCK TOOK OFF LIKE A JET AND ACCELERATED ABOUT 20 FEET FORWARD UNTIL IT CRASHED INTO MY GARAGE. I IMMEDIATELY LOOKED DOWN AND MY FOOT WAS FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE AND THE BRAKE WAS COMPLETELY PRESSED TO THE FLOOR. THE TRUCK ACCELERATED BY ITSELF. I AM THANKFUL NOBODY GOT HURT. 2010 HONDA RIDGELINE TRUCKS HAVE THE POWER STEERING RESERVOIR FLUID MOUNTED TO THE BASE OF THE FRAME. THE RESERVOIR IS NOT PROTECTED OR SHIELDED FROM ANY DEBRIS WHICH COULD EASILY ENTER INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT TO INCLUDE WATER, ICE AND SNOW FROM THE ROAD WHICH COULD STRIKE THE POWER STEERING RESERVOIR AND CAUSE A COMPLETE AND INSTANT FAILURE OF STEERING. DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AFTER DRIVING THROUGH ABOUT 8" OF SNOW, THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO SHAKE SO BAD HAD TO PULL OVER AND CHECK THAT THE WHEELS WERE TIGHT.
