TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 HARLEY-DAVIDSON XG750A. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND OVERHEATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART. THE MOTORCYCLE WAS TOWED TO HARLEY-DAVIDSON OF TAMPA (6920 N DALE MABRY HWY, TAMPA, FL 33614, [phone removed]) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE COOLANT TANK THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WAS A LETTER RECEIVED FROM HARLEY REGARDING THIS RECALL- THEY SAID IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE- THIS LETTER CAME JANUARY 2019 - MY FIANCE CRASHED ON AUGUST 13, 2019 AND IT SAID IN THE CRASH REPORT- "HE BRAKED HARD LOST CONTROL AND THE UNIT FLIPPED END OVER END." THE TROOPER AT THE TIME WAS UNAWARE OF THIS RECALL AND WHEN I INFORMED HIM HE HAD ALREADY COMPLETED THE CRASH REPORT- HE SAID THAT IT COULD HAVE PLAYED A FACTOR IN HIS CRASH WHEN I ASKED HIM ABOUT THIS RECALL- HE WANTED ME TO FAX HIM THE LETTER AND I DID.
