TL *- THE CONTACT CALLED REGARDING A 1996 GMC SAFARI VAN. THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING AT 25 MPH AND WHEN HE APPROACHED A STOP SIGN THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED. HIS FOOT REMAINED ON THE BRAKES, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED INTO THE INTERSECTION AND WAS HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH OF THE VEHICLES WERE BADLY DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE CRUISE CONTROL INDICATOR, BUT HE FELT THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT HAS A COPY OF THE POLICE REPORT. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE APPLYING BRAKE PRESSURE AT 10MPH OR LESS, THE ANTILOCK BRAKES PULSATED WHICH INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHO DETERMINED THAT THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED AFTER REPLACING THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR.

AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS VEHICLE WOULD STALL WITHOUT WARNING. SEVERAL TIMES THIS HAPPENED TO MY WIFE WHILE SHE WAS PASSING A TRACTOR-TRAILER MAKING IT DANGEROUS TO GET TO THE SHOULDER. VAN WOULD NORMALLY RESTART, BUT HAD TO BE TOWED 3 TIMES. DEALER IN FLORIDA FAILED TO REPAIR AFTER 10 DAYS AND TWO ATTEMPTS. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHO REPAIRED IT IN 4 HOURS! PROBLEM WAS A MELTED FUEL PUMP WIRING HARNESS. *TR

I PURCHASED NEW A 2004 GMC SAFARI VAN ALL WHEEL DRIVE WITH LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL. I RECENTLY HAD A TIRE FAILURE 350 MILES FROM HOME (RIGHT REAR). NO BIG DEAL JUST PUT THE SPARE ON RIGHT. WELL IT WAS 8:30 AT NIGHT WITH ICE ON THE ROAD. I GOT TO THE BURM , JACKED IT UP, WHEELS CHOCKED, IT SLIPPED OFF THE JACK, DO TO THE ICE. WITH LUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE STOPPED AND HAD A FLOOR JACK.
