PARKING BRAKE LOCKUP ON 2007 FREIGHTLINER FRED ________________________________________ I HAVE A 2007 TIFFIN ALLEGRO BAY ON A FREIGHTLINER FRED (FRONT ENGINE DIESEL) CHASSIS. WHILE DRIVING YESTERDAY I NOTICED A SUDDEN DECREASE IN ENGINE POWER AND THE BRAKE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. CHECKED SERVICE BRAKES AND THEY WERE STILL WORKING OK. BEING ON A NARROW HILL COUNTRY TEXAS 2 LANE WITH NO PLACE TO PULL OVER, I HAD TO KEEP DRIVING. FINALLY FOUND A PLACE TO SAFELY STOP. Defect: On Freightliner Custom Chassis diesel motorhomes the entire instrument cluster is a single all-digital "OptiView" LCD (Medallion 12.3", part 66-02439-000). The factory adhesive bonding the cover glass to the LCD delaminates under normal service, spreading bubbles and haze across the screen. It is widely reported across many coach brands on this chassis (Newmar, Tiffin, Coachmen, Winnebago, Entegra, American Coach) and occurs in cold climates as well as hot - an inherent material defect, not misuse. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FREIGHTLINER CUSTOM CHASS X-LINE. WHILE LOOKING UNDERNEATH THE MOTORHOME TO INSPECT IT, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE V-BAND CLAMPS WERE FRACTURED, CORRODED, AND LOOSE. THE CLAMPS WERE LOCATED NEAR THE REAR OF THE MOTORHOME BY THE FUEL TANK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000.
