Owner report 10367266 · 2010-11-23 (November 23, 2010)

MY DUCATI HAS A PLASTIC GAS TANK WHICH HAS BEGUN TO EXPAND AND DEFORM. THE OUTSIDE DIMENSIONS OF THE TANK HAVE INCREASED AND IT NOW DOES NOT SIT CORRECTLY IN THE FRAME ESPECIALLY ON THE RIGHT SIDE, THE HANDLEBARS HIT IT ON TURNING, AND IT PRESSES AGAINST THE IGNITION SWITCH. PREVIOUSLY IT OPENED AND CLOSED WITHOUT PROBLEMS, NOW I HAVE TO WEDGE IT AGAINST THE IGNITION SWITCH TO CLOSE IT. THE RIGHT RUBBER MOUNT NO LONGER SIT ON THE FRAME AND THE LEFT MOUNT IS BEGINNING TO SPREAD TOO. I HAVE NOT MODIFIED MY MOTORCYCLE EXCEPT SOME COSMETIC …

Owner report 10515481 · 2013-06-06 (June 6, 2013)

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DUCATI MONSTER M620 DARK MOTORCYCLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH AND APPLYING THE THROTTLE, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND AFTER A FEW MINUTES THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE PROCESS WAS REPETITIVE. THE FOLLOWING DAY THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL PUMP FLANGE WAS REPLACED. TEN DAYS AND TWENTY MILES LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL PUMP FLANGE WOULD …

Owner report 10286768 · 2009-10-08 (October 8, 2009)

2009 DUCATI MONSTER 1100 HAS SHUT OFF (NOT STALLED) WHILE DRIVING AT SPEED (15 - 30 MPH) ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS CAUSING THE REAR WHEEL TO LOCK AND THE BIKE TO SKID UNTIL THE CLUTCH IS DISENGAGED. BIKE RESTARTS INSTANTLY WHICH SEEMS TO INDICATE THAT AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM (BAD CONTACT?) IS CAUSING THE ENGINE TO DIE. *TR

Owner report 10320367 · 2010-03-17 (March 17, 2010)

THE PLASTIC FUEL TANK ON MY 2008 DUCATI MONSTER S2R1000 (SELECTED MONSTER 696 AS VEHICLE SINCE S2R1000 WAS NOT AN OPTION) IS SWELLING TO THE POINT IT IS RUBBING AGAINST THE IGNITION SWITCH HOUSING AND NO LONGER SITS ON THE FRAME FOR PROPER SUPPORT. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE BECAUSE OF THE FIRE RISK IF THE TANK WERE TO WEAR ALL THE WAY THROUGH AND ALLOW GASOLINE TO SPILL ONTO MY IGNITION WIRING AND HOT ENGINE. OBVIOUSLY, A FUEL LEAK OCCURRING WHILE RIDING THE MOTORCYCLE COULD RESULT IN A CRASH, INJURY OR DEATH, AND PROPERTY DAMAGE. I ALSO CANNO…

Owner report 10359876 · 2010-10-09 (October 9, 2010)

WHILE RIDING ON MY 2009 DUCATI MONSTER 696 MOTORCYCLE, I NOTICED A RUBBING SOUND AND FELT A SENSATION OF OSCILLATION. WHEN I FINALLY STOPPED THE VEHICLE, I NOTICED THAT THE FRONT SPROCKET OF THE CHAINDRIVE SLIPPED ON THE TRANSMISSION SPLINE CAUSING THE CHAIN TO RUN OUT OF ALIGNMENT AND ACTED AS A CHAINSAW CUTTING INTO THE REAR SWING ARM. I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BEFORE AN ACCIDENT COULD HAPPEN. THERE IS SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE (ESTIMATED AT $3000). NO REPAIRS HAVE OCCURRED YET AND WONT UNTIL I HEAR FROM NHTSA. I HAVE PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE DAM…
