Owner report 10007002 · 2000-10-14 (October 14, 2000)
THE POWER CONTROL MODULE AND BODY CONTROL MODULES BLEW OUT TWICE WITHIN THE FIRST 4000 MILES OF THE TRUCKS LIFE. THE LEAKY INTAKE MANIFOLD WAS DETECTED AFTER SEVERAL COMPLAINTS OF A TAPPING NOISE IN THE ENGINE WHEN ACCELERATING. STILL NOT FIXED VEHICLE STILL HAS REAL BAD TAPPING IN THE ENGINE. TRUCK DIED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. LEFT ME STRANDED. DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT THE FUEL PUMP MODULE WENT OUT. ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE ALSO SHORTED OUT THE CASSETTE PLAYER. I HAVE ALSO HEARD STRANGE BUZZING NOISES IN THE CAB WHILE DRIVING…

1998-2001 B-VAN (DODGE FULL SIZE). THE ABS CONTROL MODULE IS PROTECTED WITH A 40 AMP FUSE. A 10 GA. WIRE COMES OUT OF THE CONTROL MODULE, THEN THIS WIRE "Y'S" OUT TO TWO 14 GA. WIRES. IT APPEARS AS THOUGH THE ABS PUMP OR RELAY STICKS ON THESE VEHICLES. THEN ONE OF THE 14 GA. WIRES OVER HEATS AND CATCHES THE WIRING HARNESS ON FIRE. THE 40 AMP FUSE DOES NOT BLOW. THE FIRE THEN CONTINUES UNTIL THE ENTIRE VAN IS FULLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THIS VAN IS AT BURLINGTON DODGE. 90 MIDDLESEX TURNPICK BURLINGTON, MASS 01803. *AK

Owner report 10010498 · 2003-03-15 (March 15, 2003)
STEERING IN MY 2000 DODGE RAM 1500 4X4 IS VERY UNSAFE. IT IS NOT RESPONSIVE, AND SEEMS VERY LOOSE. IT HAS BEEN THIS WAY SINCE THE DAY I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, AND THE DEALER SAYS THIS IS "NORMAL". THE TRUCK WILL WANDER ALL OVER THE LANE, AND WHEN I TRY TO CORRECT IT, GOES COMPLETELY THE OTHER WAY, AND THIS TO ME IS DANGEROUS. THERE IS LOTS OF PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL, AND AGAIN THE DEALER TELLS ME THIS IS "NORMAL". *NLM
