THE FUEL INJECTION MANIFOLD FAILED AT TWO SWAGGED FITTINGS CAUSING A HIGH PRESSURE FUEL LEAK. UPON SMELLING FUEL WHILE DRIVING THE CAR I PULLED OVER AND FOUND THE TWO SWAGGED FITTINGS ON THE MANIFOLD POURING GAS IN THE ENGINE. I SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE AND HAD THE CAR TOWED TO HUNTINGTON BEACH CHRYSLER AND THEY REPLACED THE ENTIRE MANIFOLD FOR $700.00 WHICH I THINK IS OUTRAGES BECAUSE I FEEL THIS IS A DESIGN DEFECT BECAUSE JUST PRIOR TO THE FUEL SMELL THE CAR BACKFIRED TWICE. I WONDER HOW MANY MORE PEOPLE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE DEALERS HAVE …

Owner report 10196391 · 2007-07-15 (July 15, 2007)
THE FUEL RAIL FEEDING THE FUEL INJECTION LEAKS AT THE CRIMP ON THE LINE. THIS CAUSED A MAJOR FUEL LEAK ON UNDER THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. I SAW BY SEARCHING THE WEB SITE THAT SEVERAL OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED OF THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAD TO HAVE THE ENTIRE FUEL RAIL REPLACED AT A COST OF $650.48. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL DUE TO PROPENSITY FOR FIRE HAZARD. WHEN I WAS INSPECTING THE LEAK I GOT SPRAYED IN THE FACE AND EYES WITH GASOLINE PAINFULLY. *AK
