COTTER PINS IN THE UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS MAY HAVE BEEN IMPROPERLY CRIMPED ALLOWING THE COTTER PIN TO COME OUT OF THE STUD.

Consequence: BALL JOINT NUT COULD LOOSEN CAUSING SEPARATION OF THEBALL JOINT FROM THE STEERING KNUCKLE; THIS COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF STEERINGCONTROL AND A VEHICLE CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING.

Remedy: REPLACE IMPROPERLY CRIMPED OR MISSING BALL JOINT STUD NUT COTTER PINS; ALSO, REPLACE STEERING KNUCKLE ASSEMBLIES, AS NECESSARY.
