BRP redesigned the alternator drive shaft starting with the 2023 model year. The alternator drive has a friction drive device built into the shaft. The shaft is making a squealing noise under normal operation. This friction unit is designed to only slip when a heavy load is applied to the alternator, ie when turning at idle. The problem is that when it slips the alternator cuts out and steering get difficult with out electric assistance.
