TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 BMW X1. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO EXPERIENCE FAILURES WITH THE ELECTRONIC PANELS AND GAUGES. Driving down I-89 in Vermont, just South of Montpelier, we were driving at highway speeds toward a construction zone, suddenly, all of the power to the car cut out. There was no warning, no lights, no “bing bong” of the car to let us know there was an issue, it just stopped. We had less than 10 seconds to make a decision. When the car lost power, We had no power brakes or steering. We were in the section with concrete barriers on both sides and no shoulder. This is the most dangerous situation I can think of. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH and attempting to slow the vehicle, the braking system suddenly failed and the brake pedal extended to the floor. The driver was able to pull over and stop the vehicle but the braking distance was extended when depressing the brake pedal. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that a hose leading to the brake booster had failed and needed to be replaced. The hose was replaced and the failure was remedied. 2014 BMW X1 TRANSMISSION MOVES FROM DRIVE TO PARK WHILE IN MOTION. NO WARNING LIGHTS COME ON AFTER OR BEFORE THE OCCURANCE. WHEN ENGAGING REVERSE OR DRIVE GEARS ON THE CAR, THE TRANSMISSION WILL LOCK BRING THE CAR TO AN ABRUPT STOP. THE CAR CANNOT BE STEERED IN ANY DIRECTION TO MOVE IT OUT OF HARMS WAY.
