THROTTLE CABLE MAY HAVE BEEN DAMAGED DURING INSTALLATION RESULTING IN A BEND OR A KINK OR CHAFING AND FRAYING OF THE BRAIDED WIRE CABLE. CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: THROTTLE OPERATION COULD BE IMPAIRED REQUIRING INCREASED EFFORT TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE THROTTLE, RESULTING IN LOSS OF THROTTLE CONTROL WHICH MAY LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT.

Remedy: REPLACE THROTTLE CABLES, AS REQUIRED, MODIFYING TO ASSURE CABLES CANNOT BEND.

Reported: 1987-12-18 (December 18, 1987) · Model years: 1986, 1987

LOWER PART OF SPRING/DAMPER UNIT EYELET, WHICH ATTACHES TO THE REAR DRIVE UNIT, COULD CRACK.

Consequence: IN EXTREME CASES, SPRING DAMPER COULD DETACH FROM REARDRIVE ALLOWING REAR OF MOTORCYCLE TO DROP ONTO REAR TIRE, CAUSING DRAG ON TIREAND UNSTABLE HANDLING.

Remedy: REPLACE EYELET WITH A STRENGTHENED ONE.
