The contact owns a 2022 BMW IX. The contact stated that under certain circumstances, while driving approximately 65 MPH, the automatic safety feature indicated a false emergency stop. The contact stated that while at a stop light, the vehicle made a false detection and the Interrupted Assisted Driving warning light illuminated indicating that the contact’s hands were not on the steering wheel; however, the contact stated that his hands were positioned at the bottom of the steering wheel. Power loss, dash went black and loss of drive power. This failure has occurred twice and I more fully documented each failure to BMW. When was the last time this occurred? August 28th 2. GPS error, vehicle speed limit showed 25 under all conditions while actual speed showed correctly. When was the last time this occurred? Early August 3. Side collision system failures. The steering rack on my under 2 year old BMW iX with ~21k miles needed to be replaced. The vehicle displayed an intermittent warning about increased steering effort and to contact my service center. Upon taking it in they diagnosed it as a steering rack issue. Before taking it in, internet searches suggest many other owners of 2022 BMW iXs are having similar failures for the last several months. Intermittent and sudden "Changed Steering Effort" warning on dash every 2-3 vehicle starts. Steering effort is very noticeably increased. This is a known issue among all BMW iX owners, easily inspected, and BMW has swept this problem under the rug for too long and quietly replaced all the steering racks when the warning pops up. Fortunately for many, they're under the factory warranty. Unfortunately for me, I have had my car less than 2 years, and barely over the factory warranty on mileage.
