FUEL LEAKING FROM AROUND FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY RESULTED IN ELECTRONIC FUEL PUMP MODULE BEING SOAKED IN FUEL WHICH CAUSED CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE FUEL PUMP ASSY AND POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD. THIS APPEARS TO BE SIMILAR TO A RECALL AFFECTING 2005 - 2012 BMW BIKES. NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V617000. *TR

The contact owns a 2007 BMW F 800 S. The contact stated that while inspecting the motorcycle in the driveway, the contact became aware that fuel was leaking from the fuel pump. The motorcycle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 59,000.
