THE VEHICLE, A 2012 APRILIA TUONO V4R, STALLED WHILE IN TRANSIT ALMOST RESULTING IN A CRASH. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM WAS ACTING ERRATICALLY AS INDICATED BY THE DASHBOARD SETTINGS AND A WARNING LIGHT WAS FLASHING. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART AFTER THE NEXT SHUTDOWN. THE MANUFACTURER IS AWARE OF AN ISSUE AND HAS ISSUED A REVISED PART IDENTIFIED HERE: HTTP://WWW.AF1RACING.COM/STORE/SCRIPTS/PRODVIEW.ASP?IDPRODUCT=40351 THE ISSUE IS DOCUMENT BY MULTIPLE OWNERS HERE: HTTP://WWW.APRILIAFORUM.COM/FORUMS/SH…

Owner report 10203939 · 2007-09-24 (September 24, 2007)

THE REAR BRAKES ARE USELESS.. THE LEVER GOES TO THE BOTTOM AND THE REAR BRAKE BARELY ENGAGES. I'VE BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER TO FIX TWICE AND THEY SAY THAT'S JUST THE WAY ITALIAN BIKES ARE. I QUESTIONED THIS ON THE APRIL IA FORUMS AND EVERYONE SEEMS TO AGREE THAT THE REAR BRAKE IS HORRIBLE.. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE THE REAR BRAKE IS 25% OF YOUR TOTAL BRAKING ON THIS TYPE OF BIKE AND THE APRILIA BOOK STATES THAT ANY BRAKE ISSUE CAN CAUSE DEATH. *TR

I HAVE PURCHASED A 2007 APILIA TUONO R AND THE REAR BRESK HAS NEVER WORKED PROPERLY. A DEALER HAS BLED THE BRAKE AND IT STILL DOES NOT WORK. I WAS TOLD THIS IS AN APRILIA QUIIRK AND TO PURCHASE REARSETS AND THE PROBLEM MAY GO AWAY. *JB

SINCE THERE ARE RURAL AREAS, NO LIGHTS ARE AVAILABLE TO SEE BY. ONGOING SINCE WE GOT THE CAR, BUT SINCE WE MOVED UP TO OREGON IN 2007 IT HAS INCREASED DUE TO RAIN.

Owner report 10914489 · 2016-10-07 (October 7, 2016)

THIS COMPLAINT CONCERNS THE STATOR (CHARGING) ASSEMBLY FOR THE APRILIA TUONO V4. IN MY EXPERIENCE, I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MY CHARGING SYSTEM, AT MY COST, BECAUSE THE STATOR BURNED ITSELF UP, PREVENTING THE CHARGING OF THE BATTERY. IN READING A FORUM FOR THIS BIKE, IT IS A WIDESPREAD ISSUE AND HAS CAUSED MANY TO BE STRANDED. MY STATOR BURNED ITSELF UP WITH MY ODOMETER SHOWING 8,113 MILES. APRILIA HAS PRODUCED A NEW, UPDATED STATOR AND ROTOR ASSEMBLY, BUT REFUSES TO RECALL THE MOTORCYCLE TO CHANGE THIS $350 ASSEMBLY. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHE…

Owner report 10593219 · 2014-05-21 (May 21, 2014)

PLASTIC FUEL TANK EXPANDED AND WARPED SO MUCH THAT IT NO LONGER FIT PROPERLY ON THE MOTORCYCLE. BOLTS THAT FASTENED THE TANK TO THE FRONT OF THE FRAME COULD NO LONGER BE ALIGNED. FUEL CAP BEGAN LEAKING BECAUSE THE HOLE HAD ELONGATED ALLOWING GAS TO ESCAPE PAST THE SEAL. STRONG GASOLINE VAPORS WOULD FILL THE GARAGE WHERE STORED INDICATING A FIRE HAZARD. TANK WAS REPLACED BY APRILIA IN AUG 2012. NEW REPLACEMENT TANK IS NOW WARPING IN THE SAME MANNER. *TR
