00V181002 · Suspension:Front

Reported: 2000-08-23 (August 23, 2000) · Model years: 1999

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MOTORCYCLES EQUIPPED WITH FRONT FORK ASSEMBLIES BUILT BY AMMS (AMERICAN SUSPENSION). THE SLIDER TUBE CAN LOOSEN FROM THE AXLE CLAMP OR PISTON WHILE THE MOTORCYCLE IS BEING OPERATED.

Consequence: THIS CONDITION COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE MOTORCYCLE AND INJURY TO THE RIDER.

Remedy: AMERICAN SUSPENSION IS CONDUCTING THE OWNER NOTIFICATION FOR THIS CAMPAIGN. DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE FORK ASSEMBLY FOR PROPER PRELOAD AND MAKE ANY ADJUSTMENTS REQUIRED. THE DEALER WILL ALSO REMOVE EACH SLIDER TUBE AND DETACH THE AXLE CLAMP AND PISTON. AFTER INSPECTION AND REPLACEMENT OF ANY PARTS EXHIBITING WEAR, THE FORK WILL BE REASSEMBLED. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT AMERICAN SUSPENSION AT 1-562-904-7724.
